A young Marshall man was injured in a weather-related crash Friday afternoon, Dec. 29, when he was traveling on U.S. Highway 65.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Blane R. Carter, 21, of Marshall, was traveling south when he lost control of the 2001 Dodge he was driving on the icy roadway. The Dodge ran off the left side of the road and into the median, where it came to rest on its side before catching fire.

The crash occurred south of 195th Road, and the fire was quickly extinguished, according to the report. Carter, who was wearing a safety device, was taken by private vehicle to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
