Russell W. ‘Dub’ Mitchell
Russell W. “Dub” Mitchell, 87, of rural Houstonia, died Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2017, at The Living Center in Marshall.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 11, 2017, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall, with the Rev. Bill Cook officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 10, 2017, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Sunset Gardens Cemetery in Marshall. Memorials may be made to New Salem Baptist Church. Born Aug. 16, 1930, in Napton, Dub was the son of the late Harley Russell Mitchell and Della Niceley Mitchell. On March 17, 1953, he married Bernadean Coffelt, who survives. He lived in Saline County his entire life, was a farmer, and a member of Saler Cattle Association and New Salem Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
In addition to his wife Bernadean, Dub is survived by two sons, Ronnie Mitchell of Springfield, and Russ Mitchell and wife Donna of rural Houstonia; four grandchildren, Shane Mitchell and wife Kristi, Caleb Mitchell and wife Candice, Shelly Bockstetter and husband Scott, and Amanda Riley and husband Josh; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Hazel Cornine of rural Marshall, and Jean Sims of Marshall; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Dub was preceded in death by one brother, Edgar Mitchell; and one sister, Edith Wright.
