Sweet Springs High School places at CMU Band Day

Thursday, October 12, 2017

Approximately 47 bands from all areas of Missouri gathered to compete in the 53rd annual Central Methodist University Band Day Saturday, Oct. 7. Rain forced an hour’s delay beginning the competition, but the sun shined for the rest of the day.

Schools could compete in as few as one competition, or as many as four. Five classes of schools, based on school size, competed with other similarly-sized schools in each class.

The CMU Swinney Conservatory of Music sponsors and runs Band Day each year, led by CMU Director of Bands Roy “Skip” Vandelicht, associate professor of music.

Results for area schools include Sweet Springs High School placing third in the class 1 field competition.
