KIRKSVILLE -- The Marshall boys' soccer team kept alive its quest to repeat as NCMC champions Monday with a 4-2 victory at Kirksville.

The Owls never trailed in this contest, going up 2-0 in the first half on a penalty kick by sophomore Noe Medrano and goal by senior Brandon Aguilar. The Tigers closed the gap before intermission on a shot by sophomore Remerdie Ndiang.

Medrano converted another penalty kick three minutes into the second period and Aguilar gave Marshall a 4-1 lead midway through the half. Kirksville (12-8, 6-6 NCMC) scored on senior Max Fanning's penalty kick with four minutes remaining.

Medrano and Aguilar lead the Owls with 15 goals apiece. Both of Aguilar's goals were assisted by freshman Hector Garcia.

Marshall (14-6, 10-1) hosts Hannibal for a pivotal league showdown Saturday. In the meantime, the Owls play a non-conference match Thursday at Warrensburg.
