Barbara Ann Odom White
Barbara Ann Odom White, 72, of Rexberg Idaho, formerly of Marshall, died Sept. 12, 2017, in Florence, Mont., from pancreatic cancer.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Sept. 23, 2017, at The Taylor Chapel, 525 South Center Street, Rexberg, ID 83460. If friends desire, the family suggests memorial contributions be sent to the American Association of University Women (AAUW).
Barbara was born April 23, 1945, and was the daughter of the late William H. “Bill” and Mary Margaret (Miller) Odom. Barbara was a member of the First Christian Church in Marshall, she was a staunch Christian, and lived her life accordingly. Barbara graduated with the Marshall High School class of 1963, Southwest Missouri State in 1967, she continued her education at Utah State University, and received her doctoral degree at Montana State University. Barbara’s long and distinguished career included working as the deputy administrator at the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Washington, D.C. Barbara was an amazing and caring woman with a great sense of humor. She loved helping others and was always giving of herself to help anyone in need. Through her work as vice president for Information Technology, and chief information officer at Utah State University, and as associate provost at the University of Georgia, and most recently a consultant on Special Projects at Brigham Young University-Idaho, Barbara touched the lives of thousands of young Americans.
Barbara is survived by her three children, Brian, Jason and Jennifer; her grandchildren, Chazden, Gavin and Haley; a brother, Bob Odom and wife Morie of Lima, Peru; four nieces, Jessica Odom Harris and husband Shane Harris, Tiffany Odom of Atlanta, Ga., and Mia and Bellin of Peru; two nephews, Dennis of Jefferson City, and Jose Chappers and wife Mariel; as well as other family members.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents.
