Lions Club sponsors run/walk
Marshall Lions Club will host a 5K run/walk Saturday, Sept. 9, at 7:30 a.m., starting at the corner of Odell and Morgan Streets in Marshall.
According to information provided by Lesa Banks, who helped organize the event, registration is required and the early bird registration deadline is Friday, Aug. 25. Early registration also guarantees a T-shirt.
Registration will be from 6:15 a.m. to 7 a.m. on race day, Sept. 9. The race is open to men and women from ages 15 and under to ages 60 and older.
The run/walk helps raise funds for Run for Sight, which donates funds to organizations like Leader Dogs, Mid-South Sight and Hearing, Central Missouri's Saving Sight and Kid's Sight Foundations, World Services for the Blind, and Lions Club International Foundation, according to information provided by Banks.
"The Marshall Lions Club continuously attempts to meet the challenge made by Helen Keller," Banks said. "In 1925, she attended the Lions Club International Convention and challenged Lions to become 'knights of the blind in the crusade against darkness.'"
Entry forms are available at Community Bank of Marshall, Salt Fork YMCA in Marshall and Wood & Huston Bank.
