Cattle Auction Report from July 17, 2017:

No sale next week due to the State Fair ***

Receipts: 1152 Week Ago: N/A Year Ago: 1101

There have been no recent comparable sales for a price trend. A nice run of yearling cattle was offered and sold with moderate to good demand on a heavy supply. The undertone was steady to firm despite Live and Feeder cattle futures closing sharply lower. News that Japan has raised tariffs on U.S. beef poses concern for exports just after the recent Cattle on Feed Report showed a high feedlot placement number. The feeder offering was made up of near 48 percent steers and bulls, 52 percent heifers with 94 percent over 600 lbs. Cows and bulls totaled 6 percent of the offering.
