Clear Fork Publishing takes on Amber Hendricks’ ‘Sophie and Little Star’
Marshall author Amber Hendricks’ picture book “Sophie and Little Star” has been acquired by Clear Fork Publishing’s Callie Metler-Smith, www.clearforkpublishing.com.
When a little star falls from her home in the sky, she finds help from an unexpected friend. Together, the new friends search for a way to send Little Star home, but soon discover that not everyone you meet is kind, or helpful. Little Star begins to wonder if she’ll ever find a way home, and if she does, will she be able to leave her new friend, Sophie, behind?
Born and raised in the Midwest, Hendricks grew up reading everything she could get her hands on, including the morning cereal boxes. That passion melded into writing, as well, and by the age of 11 she was writing and binding her own “books.”
Although she dreamed of becoming a writer, when it came time for college, Hendricks opted for a more practical major. She earned a bachelor’s degree in merchandising, with an emphasis on visual merchandising, from Northwest Missouri State University. Hendricks has worn many hats in her career: Army wife, mother, visual merchandiser, certified pharmacy technician, and most recently, childcare professional. But she has always circled back to her first love of telling stories.
Hendricks currently resides in Marshall with her husband and two children. She is represented by Natasha Morris at Bookends Literary Agency.
“Sophie and Little Star” is set to be released in late 2018 and will be illustrated by Raissa Figueroa.
