Feeder Cattle Weighted Average Report for 07/24/2017

   Compared to last week, a very light run and test of feeders this week due to 
the extreme heat on Sunday.  Feeders traded with a weak to lower undertone, with 
the best comparison on 500-550 lb steer calves selling weak to 5.00 lower.  
Supply was light with demand moderate.  Limit losses quickly developed across 
the CME cattle complex before closing with sharp triple-digit losses as last 
Friday's COF report showed placements at 116 percent, 10 percent more than 
analyst expected set a bearish tone for the feeder market.  Slaughter cows 
accounted for near 8 percent of the total receipts.  Feeder supply consisted of 
65 percent steers and bulls, 35 percent heifers and 40 percent weighing over 600 
lbs.
