Llamas featured in this yearís county fair
Directly after the Sheep Show, several llamas were featured in Saline County Fairís Miscellaneous Animal Show.
The llamas, exhibited by siblings Vivian, Simeon and Lilian Buie, ranged in age from 4 years old to 6 months.
Llamas have an average weight of 250 pounds, according to information from National Geographic, although they have been estimated to weigh up to 400 pounds. The South American camelid is a domesticated animal that has traditionally been used as a pack animal and sometimes bred for its meat.
Each of the three llamas received blue ribbons and took first place in their classes. Four-year-old Tobias was exhibited by Lilian, 3-year-old Domino was exhibited by Simeon, and 6-month-old Lucky was exhibited by Vivian.
