Feeder Cattle Auction Report for 5/23/2017

Receipts: 2783 Week Ago: 2425 Year Ago: 2435

Compared to last week, steer and heifer calves sold steady to 3.00 higher,
with 450-500 lb heifers trading up to 6.00 higher. No comparable sales of
yearlings last week, however a quality offering of yearlings sold with a higher
undertone on very good demand. Some confidence has been reestablished in the
market after a few days of gains on the board and feedlots seem to be in need of
inventory. Demand was good with an active market and a moderate to heavy
supply. The feeder offering was made up of near 61 percent steers and bulls and
39 percent heifers with 47 percent over 600 lbs. Cows and bulls totaled 11
percent of the offering. Slaughter cows and bulls sold steady to 1.00 higher.
