Marshall High School FFA Chapter President Sydnee Mason was selected as an officer for the 2017-2018 Missouri State Officer Team.

During the selection process, Mason faced two days of interviews in front of an 11-member panel in Columbia. The process included personal interviews, group situations, stand and deliver challenge, and an FFA knowledge test.

According to MHS FFA Advisor Tyler Burgin, Area 6 sent two candidates, Mason and Abby Bertz, of Odessa. Both were selected as state officers out of 31 competitors. Masonís position on the officer team will be announced at the State FFA Convention on April 20-21 in Columbia.

The Marshall FFA Chapter also received superior chapter, 100 percent chapter membership and a gold rating. In order to receive the 100 percent chapter membership award, every student enrolled in agricultural education classes must also be FFA members. Superior chapters with gold ratings are based on the chapterís involvement in the community and student and leadership development. According to Burgin, receiving the award also means the chapter can be judged at the state and national levels.
