Members of the Lions Club and The Arbors at Westport Estates, a secured memory care provider, dedicate two benches located near The Arbors entrance Thursday, March 30. The benches were provided by the Lions Club as one of its Centennial service projects in order to assist Arbors residents during fire evacuations, as well as providing outdoor seating for visitors and staff. The benches are molded from 100 percent recycled scrap tires, milk jugs and other grade 2 to 6 plastics. Facility Administrator Stacy Winter said The Arbors was very thankful for the club's efforts and that the benches had filled a definite need. The Marshall Lions are a group of men and women who identify needs in the community and work together to fulfill those needs. Other service projects include delivering Meals on Wheels through the Marshall Senior Center, Buddy Packs for Marshall public elementary schools, KidSight screening at Marshall Head Start and free screening for children in association with Salt Fork YMCA, selling brooms and other products made by the blind, providing eye examinations and eyeglass scholarships, raising funds for the Marshall Chamber of Commerce fireworks show and collecting used eyeglasses and hearing aids.
