Earl Ray Wright Sr.
Earl Ray Wright Sr., 79, of rural Marshall, died Thursday, Feb. 2, 2017, at Apple Ridge Care Center in Waverly.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2017, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall, with William W. Harlow officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Malta Bend Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Crossroads Hospice or Community Cancer Center. Born Feb. 26, 1937, in Malta Bend, Earl Ray was the son of the late Raymond E. Wright and Mary Mesdemes Stark Wright. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and a member of Malta Bend American Legion Post No. 558. On May 20, 1961, he married Virginia Louise Palmer, who preceded him in death on June 1, 2013. He lived in Saline County his entire life and retired from ConAgra Frozen Foods. He was a member of Malta Bend Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Earl Ray Wright Jr. and wife Sharla of Blackburn, and James Robert Wright of Slater; one grandson, Aaron Ray Wright; two sisters, Barbara Fern Coats of Orrick, and Beverly Case and husband Cliff of Independence; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, Earl Ray was preceded in death by one brother, Robert Wright.
