Blue Springs woman charged with meth possession
A Blue Springs woman was charged with a felony count of possession of a controlled substance except 35 grams or less of marijuana in Saline County Tuesday, Jan. 31.
Catherine Martina Keltner, 32, was also charged with a misdemeanor count for unlawful use of drug paraphernalia. The charges result from an alleged incident on Dec. 22, 2016, in which the Missouri State Highway Patrol allegedly recovered an unspecified amount of crystal methamphetamine, as well as various paraphernalia, in a makeup bag under her seat.
According to the probable cause statement in the case, the officer of record conducted a traffic stop at approximately 11:02 p.m. at mile marker 72.2 of eastbound Interstate 70 for following another vehicle too closely. Keltner was a passenger in the vehicle. When making contact, the officer reports detecting an overwhelming smell of body mist, which she suspected of being used to cover another scent, prompting her search of the vehicle.
