Margaret L. "Peggy" Carter, 102, of Marshall, died Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2017, at The Living Center in Marshall.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 21, 2017, at First Baptist Church in Marshall, with Dr. Mike Parris and the Rev. Wayne Doolin officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church. Burial will be in Sunset Gardens Cemetery in Marshall. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church in care of Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall. Friends may sign the online register book at www.campbell-lewis.com.

Born Sept. 1, 1914, in Longwood, Peggy was the daughter of the late Ferry Patterson and Bertha Karrick Patterson. On June 6, 1933, she married Guy W. "Red" Carter, who preceded her in death on Aug. 26, 1995. She retired from International Shoe Company and also worked as a beautician. She lived in Marshall most of her life where she was a member of First Baptist Church and its Priscilla Sunday school class of which she served as secretary for many years.

Survivors include one sister, Frances Quinn of Lawson; several nieces and nephews; a stepdaughter; and her family.

In addition to her parents and husband, Peggy was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.
