Virgil Arvia 'Harvey' Land Jr
Virgil Arvia "Harvey" Land Jr., 70, of rural Miami, died Monday, Jan. 9, 2017, in St. Clair County.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2017, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall, with William W. Harlow officiating. Burial will follow in Ridge Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the family to be used towards an education fund for Harvey's granddaughters. Born June 19, 1946, in Salem, he was the son of the late Virgil A. Land Sr. and Lola Mae Brookshire Land. Harvey lived in Saline County most of his life and was a truck driver, currently employed with Hahn and Phillips.
Survivors include one son, Brent Land and fiancÚ Lauren Schmidt of rural Miami; one daughter-in-law, Jennifer Land of Marshall; three granddaughters, Abagail, Karley, and Addalynn; four brothers, Glen Land of rural Miami, Eldon Land of rural Carrollton, Gene Land of Marshall, and Bobby Land of rural Carrollton; three sisters, Connie Stout of Michigan City, Ind., Helen Rader of Marshall, and Margaret Land of rural Carrollton; as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Robbie -- in infancy -- and Kelly Land; three sisters, Faye White, Barbara Phillips and Mary Lee Wright; and one brother, Charlie Land.
