Feeder Cattle Auction Report for 1/3/2017

Receipts: 3295 Two Weeks Ago: 985 Year Ago: 2587

Compared to a light test two weeks ago, steer calves under 550
lbs traded mostly 5.00-10.00 higher, spots up to 15.00 higher; 550-
650 lbs 2.00-8.00 higher; 650 lbs and up steady to 4.00 higher. All
weights of heifers sold steady to 3.00 higher. Quality cattle kept
coming through the ring all day and demand was good. After a year
of abundant feed, buyers have conceded to the fact that most cattle
are going to come to town carrying some extra flesh and werenÂ’t too
picky. Much colder weather expected the remainder of the week. The
offering consisted of near 62 percent steers and bulls and 38 percent
heifers with 60 percent over 600 lbs. Cows and bulls totaled 11
percent of the offering. Slaughter cows sold 2.00-5.00 higher.
