Marshall Public Schools hosts second holiday reception at Spainhower

Monday, December 5, 2016
Opening the doors of the newest Marshall Public Schools facility to the public for the second straight year, the district hosts its annual holiday reception at the Spainhower Building Monday, Dec. 5. The reception offered the opportunity for visitors to tour the building, which includes the district's print shop, to participate in a silent auction (top left), children's activities (bottom right) and even to take a photo with Santa Claus (top right). New to the reception in 2016 was the opportunity to experience the Brain Bus, a mobile innovation laboratory currently in the construction phase. The idea for the Brain Bus, constructed from an emptied out school bus and based off the Columbia School District's makerspace bus, was first presented to the Board of Education by High School Librarian Norine Gaskill Tuesday, Sept. 20. Monday, the bus included activities such as puzzles interactive with electronic tablets (bottom left), lego mazes, 3-D viewing and gaming, and the opportunity to build materials with a 3-D printer.
