Marshall Public Schools Transportation Department is hosting "Spare a Square" in an effort to collect toilet paper benefiting the Saline County Holiday Project.

The department is challenging local organizations and businesses to collect the most toilet paper between Nov. 8 and Dec. 6. Donations must be counted and boxed up by the morning of Dec. 7 for pick up. The winner will receive a "Golden Plunger" award.

Christy Varner with Community Bank of Marshall, Ashley Book with Wood & Huston Bank, Alex Trelow and Courtney Jolliff with Missouri Valley Community Action Agency, Jennifer Marquess with Oppa! food service, Sandy Hisle with Tower Reality, Saline County Victim Advocate Tausha Lembke, and the Knights of Columbus Hall are a few locals participating.

Those who promote the drive are encouraged to use hashtag #mpsspareasquare.

Those interested in participating or donating can contact Transportation Director Craig Thompson at 660-886-2244 or, or drop donations off at Marshall High School on Miami Avenue.
