Friday, November 4, 2016

Reconnecting in Saline County (RISC) is sponsoring a Winter Give-A-Way and are collecting new hats and gloves for children in grades K-12 now through Dec. 15.

Donations will be given to the Marshall School District for distribution.

Drop-off locations are at the following:

Missouri Department of Corrections Probation & Parole Office at 1239 Santa Fe Trail (660-831-5238); Powerhouse Community Development Corporation at 263 W. Morgan St. (660-886-8860); Pathways Community Health at 941 Cherokee Dr. (660-831-0908); and at the University of Missouri Extension Office at 353 S. Lafayette Ave. (660-886-6908), all located in Marshall.

These agencies are part of a collaborative network that meets at the University of Missouri Extension Office once a month. Their goal is to help families and individuals overcome challenges they may face in life.

According to Powerhouse Ministries Senior Pastor Charles Stephenson, the group's focus is the "at-risk population that often times fail in society due to systemic barriers."

Their target audience includes "single parents, veterans, homeless, ex-offenders, substance abuse and mental health persons, uneducated, neglected, abuse and endangered children and low-income," Stephenson said.
