Area bands battle at CMU Band Day 2016

Bands from around the area participated in the CMU Band Day 2016 in Fayette on Saturday, Oct. 8, to compete for awards in many different divisions.

According to a press release, awards were given by class divisions based on school sizes, and categories included street, parade, auxiliary, field, field auxiliary, indoor color guard and indoor drum line. A total of 54 bands participated.

Results for area schools were as follows:

Class 1: Sweet Springs won third place, fourth place went to Glasgow, tenth to Santa Fe and twelfth to Slater in street. In parade auxiliary, Glasgow took first place, sixth was awarded to Sweet Springs, and Santa Fe took ninth. In field, Glasgow won first place and third went to Sweet Springs. Glasgow also won first in field auxiliary with Sweet Springs in second. Sweet Spring's indoor drum line won third place.

Class 4: Marshall took fourth place in both street and field divisions.
