Ruth Ann Heim
Ruth Ann Heim, 66, of Overland Park, Kan., formerly of rural Sweet Springs, died Saturday, Sept. 24, 2016, at Olathe Hospice House in Olathe, Kan.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 29, 2016, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Sweet Springs, with William W. Harlow officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Born Jan. 16, 1950, in Sweet Springs, she was the daughter of the late William Julian Heim and Lydia Frances Wilcoxon Heim. Ruth graduated from Sweet Springs High School in 1968. She then attended St. Luke's School of Nursing, where she became a Registered Nurse. Her life's work was being a Registered Nurse for 41 years. The first five years were at St. Luke's Hospital. The next 36 years were spent at Shawnee Mission Hospital until her retirement. She was a member of the American Association of Critical Care Nurses. Ruth had lived in Overland Park since 1972, and was an animal lover. Whether it be adopting cats from the local animal shelter or spoiling someone else's pet, Ruth loved them all.
She is survived by four nephews, Stephen Heim of Riverside, Jeff Fuehring of Sweet Springs, Kevin Fuehring of Concordia, and Bobby Fuehring of Sweet Springs; one niece, Sherry Hall of Sweet Springs, along with their families; and an "adopted" sister, Denise Miller of Gardner, Kan.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents and her only brother, J. Daniel Heim.
