Feeder Cattle Weighted Average Report for 08/23/2016
Receipts: 1467 Week Ago: 1299 Year Ago: 766
Compared to last week, on a light test of comparable sales steers
and heifers sold mostly 5.00-10.00 lower. More calves offered this
week compared to last week’s bigger offering of yearlings. A quality
run was offered, but not the loads this week to push the extreme top
end prices for the yearlings. Cattle futures have continued to trend
lower since last week. Supply and demand was moderate. The feeder
offering consisted of near 59 percent steers and bulls and 41 percent
heifers with 58 percent over 600 lbs. Cows and bulls totaled 13 percent
of the offering.
