Feeder Cattle Weighted Average Report for 06/28/2016
Receipts: 852 Week Ago: 1233 Year Ago: 1266
Compared to last week, steers sold uneven. Based on limited
comparisons calves under 600 lbs sold mostly 2.00-3.00 lower, spots
7.00-8.00 lower than the high prices last week. Yearlings had a higher
undertone. Heifer calves steady to 5.00 higher, no recent comparisons
of heavier weights. Demand for calves was light to moderate, yearlings
saw good demand. Cattle carrying much flesh at all were discounted and
there are still quite a few fall-born calves showing up un-weaned.
Supply was light. The feeder offering consisted of near 56 percent
steers and bulls and 44 percent heifers with 35 percent over 600 lbs.
Cows and bulls totaled 24 percent of the offering.
