Saline County Commission discusses database, reserves courthouse lawn

Thursday, March 24, 2016

Taking a note from a previous meeting, the Saline County Commission discussed the new county tracking database in regular session Thursday, March 24.

Emergency Management Director Emmit Williams noted at the meeting the documents are ready for county employees to fill out which will contain information and various skills or qualifications those employees may have. The commission noted employees will be given one week to fill out the paperwork.

Northern Commissioner Charlie Guthrie also requested the courthouse lawn be reserved for a brick laying ceremony on the east side of the courthouse Tuesday, June 14.

"Marty and I figured Flag Day would be a good day to do it," Guthrie said, noting the east side of the Walk of Honor is only a couple bricks shy of being completely full.

County Clerk Debbie Russell also spoke at the meeting about a west-central county clerks meeting held in Clinton.

"Those to me are always the best because it's just a round table where we have interaction ... we can talk (about) our own subject matter rather than have a speaker," Russell said.

Also announced in session was that Sheriff Cindi Mullins has hired Brandon C. Walker who will fill an open position in the jail division. The Commission also approved the use of the courthouse lawn for Relay 4 Life, who will be using the grounds from 5-11 p.m. Friday, June 10.

The next scheduled Commission meeting will be Tuesday, March 28.
