Slater woman sustains minor injuries after crashing into trees

Tuesday, December 29, 2015

A 37-year-old woman sustained minor injuries after road conditions caused her vehicle to slide Monday afternoon, Dec. 28.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Rissa J. Riley, of Slater, was driving south on state Route 41 at approximately 2:30 p.m. when the crash occurred.

The report stated the 2012 Chevrolet she was driving was moving too fast for road conditions and began sliding out of control.

Riley over-corrected, ran off the left side of the road, down a grass embankment and struck several trees before coming to "an uncontrolled stop on its wheels facing north."

The crash occurred near Big Soldier Lake Road. Slater Ambulance District transported her to the hospital for minor injuries. A 12-year-old occupant of the vehicle was not injured.

Both were wearing safety devices, according to the report.
