Wilma 'Willy' Wittenmyer
Wilma "Willy" Wittenmyer passed away peacefully at her home in Glasgow on Dec. 12, 2015. She was 76 years of age.
A memorial service in Mrs. Wittenmyer's honor will be held Thursday, Dec. 17, 2015, at 7 p.m. at Southside Assembly of God in Marshall, with the Rev. Cliff Cato officiating. The family will receive and visit with friends 30 minutes prior to the service, starting at 6:30 p.m. A burial will be held privately at a later date at the convenience of the family. Wilma M. Wittenmyer was born on Dec. 13, 1938 in Clay County, Ind., to Garold and Elizabeth (Bachelor) Searing. She graduated from high school in Bridgeston, Ind. Willy married Jack Wittenmyer in Paris, Ill., on Jan. 18, 1969. Together they have enjoyed 46 years of marriage. Willy was the ultimate homemaker and woman of many trades. She did oil paintings, played piano, sewed and crocheted, gardened, canned goods and was a great cook. She was a devout member of Southside Assembly of God church in Marshall. Willy never met a stranger and truly loved the people she came into contact with. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband, Jack; son, Randy Johnson, of Hickory, N.C.; daughter, Heidi Elfering of Grand Junction, Colo.; stepson, Jack Wittenmyer Jr., of Terre Haute, Ind.; stepdaughter, Jeanette Burke of Indianapolis, Ind.; two brothers, Ralph Searing of Rosedale, Ind., and Leon Searing of Terre Haute, Ind.; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Aside from her parents, Willy was preceded in death by three children, Robin, Ricky and Regina.
