Softball: Pilot Grove 7, Slater 4

PILOT GROVE -- Pilot Grove scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning Monday to pull out a 7-4 CAC decision over the visiting Slater softball team.

The Lady Wildcats tallied all four of their runs in the third, with junior Abby Head driving in a pair of runs with a single and scoring on junior Riley Peeples' single.

The Lady Tigers scored three unearned runs in their half of the frame, the first two coming in on an error. Slater got around a pair of lead-off singles in the fourth with a double play.

Sophomore Karsyn Kraus tied the game with a two-out single in the sixth, with Pilot Grove (12-11, 3-3 CAC) adding three insurance runs on sophomore Regan Walker's bases-loaded triple.

Senior Carley Grimes allowed only one earned run for the Lady 'Cats (4-18, 2-5), who are seeded fourth in the Class 1, District 8 Tournament at Salisbury. They'll open play Wednesday against Brunswick.
