Chiefs move into third place in I-70

ALMA -- The Santa Fe football team won its fourth straight I-70 Conference contest Friday with a 51-12 Homecoming victory over Orrick.

That moves the Chiefs (5-2, 4-2 I-70) into a tie for third place in the league race with St. Paul -- who they host this week -- and solidifies their hold on second place in the Class 1, District 6 standings with a comfortable 7.56-point margin over Westran.

Crest Ridge 55, Sweet Springs 0

CENTERVIEW -- Senior Noah McCune scored five touchdowns Friday to lead Crest Ridge to a 55-0 I-70 Conference home win over Sweet Springs.

After senior Kolin Reynolds opened the contest with a 6-yard touchdown run, McCune twice went in from a yard out, caught a 31-yard pass from senior Tyler Rodgers, and then sprinted 31 and 41 yards for two more scores to give the Cougars a 43-0 halftime lead.

Crest Ridge (6-1, 5-1 I-70) added a pair of 34-yard touchdown runs from sophomore Hayden Ridge in the second half.

The Greyhounds were limited to 10 yards of net offense. Junior Levi Miller had 12 tackles and senior Rhett Snider got in on 11 stops.

Sweet Springs (2-5, 1-4) returns home Friday to face Lone Jack.

Paris 54, Slater 8

SLATER -- Paris scored 38 first-quarter points Friday en route to a 54-8 Lewis and Clark Conference victory at Slater.

Senior Tucker Gruber carried the ball six times for 203 yards and two touchdowns, including a 92-yard dash, to pace the Coyotes -- who gained 271 yards on the ground during contest shortened by the continuous clock.

Paris (4-3, 2-1 L&C) also got three touchdown passes from sophomore Brett Miller, two of them -- including a 36-yarder -- to senior Laine Forrest.

The Wildcats (0-7, 0-3) scored their touchdown during the final period. They will travel to Westran on Friday.
