Thirty-eight 4-H members from Benton, Carroll, Howard, Pettis and Saline counties participated in 4-H camp Service Learning project held June 8 at Heit's Point Camp near Lincoln. With the support of the Missouri 4-H Foundation and the Pioneer Community Service Grant, camp counselors were able to install over 30 AmirŪ Solar Lights.

"By installing these lights, youth had a safer experience traveling back at night by marking the pathways," said William Grant, camp counselor from Carroll County, "Wish we could have another 60 lights to improve lighting and eliminate the need for youth to carry flashlights."

Through grants from Crader Distributing and Stihldealers.com, as well as DuPont Pioneer, the Missouri 4-H Foundation offers up to $1,000 to match a 4-H community service project, with priority given to applications that emphasize youth service-learning involvement.
