Boonville - Missouri Valley Commission Company: Cattle Auction Report for 10/07/14

Wednesday, October 8, 2014

Receipts: 851 Week Ago: 346 Year Ago: 382

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers under 600 lbs traded 2.00 to
6.00 higher. No true price comparison for bigger weights, however, a heavy
supply of yearling cattle were readily absorbed at sharply higher price levels.
Slaughter cows 1.00 to 3.00 lower. Lots of good cattle in town this week with a
pretty even split of steers and heifers. Discounts have not been as severe this
fall (so far) for unweaned or unworked cattle, as buyers are more willing to
take a chance on the health of those cattle than they are to risk going home
with orders left to fill. Supply moderate and demand good to very good. Cows and
bulls accounted for 09 percent of the total offering. The feeder supply
consisted of 52 percent steers and bulls and 48 percent heifers; 66 percent of
all the feeder cattle weighed over 600 lbs.
