Junior Taylor Crawford and father Scott Crawford won the High School division of the Marshall Junior Tennis' Association Parent/Child Tournament on Wednesday on the MHS courts.
The Crawfords downed sophomore Elizabeth and Duane Pomerenke for the title. Crawford (above) was the No. 1 singles player on the Lady Owls' squad last fall and finished fifth in the MSHSAA Class 1 Championships.
Coming in third was the combo of Madi Woolsey and Missouri Valley College women's wrestling coach Carl Murphree.
Duane Pomerenke was a busy dad, pairing with younger daughter Hannah for the 12-and-under championship over Luke Miles and Jamie Johnston.
Maggie Sherman and Eddie Hutcherson defeated Broderick and Cathy Crawford for first place in the 14-and-under group and the 10-and-under crown was taken by Hayden King and Danielle Callanan over John Miles and Susan Tharp.
The MJTA summer program had over 120 participants in its clinics, tournaments and round-robin meets, which concluded Tuesday. (Chris Allen/Democrat-News)
