Monday, June 2, 2014

Hemp history week is June 2 - 8. According to a news release, there will be more than 1,000 events in cities and towns throughout all 50 states. In Marshall, events are planned for Thursday, June 5, beginning at 5p.m. on the Marshall Square to coincide with Marshall's 175th anniversary celebration.

There will be informational booths set up to provide information about hemp and its importance to agriculture and communities. There will also be a hempcrete demonstration given on the square to show how it is made.

Hemp history week is focused on embracing the industrial hemp farming heritage in Saline County and across the country, according to information from the Lexington Civil War Museum.
