Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers traded steady to 5.00 higher
on a limited test. A very light supply of feeder cattle this week created few
true comparisons to last Tuesday’s sale but demand was good and the market could
have withstood a much larger run. Slaughter cows steady. Cows and bulls
accounted for 30 percent of the total offering. The feeder supply consisted of
62 percent steers and bulls and 38 percent heifers; 14 percent of all the feeder
cattle weighed over 600 lbs.
