Boonville- Missouri Valley Commission Company: Cattle Auction Report for 4/29/2014

Thursday, May 1, 2014

Receipts: 445 Last Week: 659 Year Ago: 621

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers were steady to 7.00
higher. The feeder supply was light and demand was good. The seats were
quite full this week; some with buyers, others with producers passing a
gray and dreary day at the local sale barn. The offering varied, with some
long-time weaned yearlings thin and ready to gain, and some calves having
been trailer weaned on the way to town and showing their baby-softness. A
good supply of slaughter cows sold 4.00 to 10.00 higher. Slaughter bulls
were 3.00 to 10.00 higher. Cows and bulls were 38 percent of total receipts.
In the feeder offering nearly 60 percent were steers and bulls and 40 percent
heifers; 44 percent weighed over 600 lbs.
