According to charges filed April 5, Jose Antonio Vaquiz, 75, of Marshall, has been charged with two counts of child molestation in the first degree, which is a class B felony.

According to two probable cause statements from the Marshall Police Department, Vaquiz molested the children of two family friends, one in 2008 and the other in 2009. The victims were between the ages of 5 and 6 at the times of the incidents. Vaquiz confirmed the allegations when speaking with MPD.

If convicted, he could face five to 15 years in the Department of Corrections for each charge.

Bond was set at $10,000 cash only for each charge.

Editor's note: Charges contained in reports provided by law enforcement officials are not evidence of guilt. Evidence supporting charges must be presented before a jury, whose duty is to determine if the accused is guilty or not guilty of the charges.
