Ag-Power going strong, making plans to rebuild

Ag-Power suffered a loss to a fire, which was believed to have started in the service department at their Higginsville location. Fortunately, no fatalities or injuries were reported from the incident and they are already making plans to rebuild after suffering this loss on March 13.

"Ag-Power has been in business for 25 years and we haven't seen anything like this," said General Manager Jeff Oldham. "It's going to take a little while to go through everything to fully assess the damage."

He said there has not been any evidence as to the cause of the fire yet.

"It takes a while. And there have been several investigators who have looked into the cause, but there has not been a definitive cause found," he said. "We are still working through things, but we do have full plans on rebuilding.

"We have a 9-month plan to rebuild. We hope to have a service department and shop first, then add a show room. Our goal is that by harvest we will be in the new facility."

After the loss of the facility, all employees were spread through their other locations. Oldham said a majority of employees went to Marshall, Richmond, Carrollton and Centerview.

"I want to thank everyone for all the community support through this," he said.
