Letter to the Editor: How long is temporary?

Wednesday, March 26, 2014

In 1974, when our oldest daughter was in sixth grade, she was in the first class in the new temporary trailer at Southeast Elementary School. In 1975, the last year Marshall High School was on South Odell, she had seventh grade classes in a temporary trailer behind the building which became Bueker Middle School. In 2014, we have a grandson in the fifth grade who has classes in a temporary trailer at Bueker Middle School.

Richard Raynor was on the school board for nine years from 1975 to 1984. Those were adverse economic years with very tight budgets, and difficult decisions had to be made about major repairs to the elementary schools. More classroom space was needed and more temporary trailers were added.

We support the levy increase for Marshall Public Schools. How long is temporary? Vote YES for our schools.
