FCS Financial sponsors ag seminar
As part of an informational series across the state, representatives from FCS Financial presented a seminar in Marshall on Wednesday, Feb. 26, at the Martin Community Center in Marshall.
Scott Gardner, FCS Financial vice president of marketing and sales, said they have been presenting these seminars for several years.
"We do this annually. We try to bring in speakers relevant to the area," he said. "We provide information, training and education."
Jim Wiesemeyer, senior vice president on farm and trade policy from Informa Economics, Inc., presented information about the farm bill. After five years, a new farm bill has passed. Wiesemeyer said the guiding principles for farm policy are that it must work for all crops and regions of the country; it must protect against deep price declines and does no harm to crop insurance and allow for improvements where possible.
Pat Kroese, a representative of GrainBridge, offered information about a web-based financial application. GrainBridge allows its customers to build marketing plans, manage cash sales and insurance and provides help with risk assessment by providing what-if analysis.
"We started it in 2007 and officially went live with it in 2009," Kroese said.
He said they sell their services to various agribusinesses to offer their customers.
"It's a great tool to help manage your business," Kroese said.
