Three Missouri Valley College Repertory Dance Ensemble pieces have been selected for a choreography competition at the Inaside Dance Choreographic Sponsorship Event, March 12-15 in Chicago, Ill.

MVC students Torey Miller and Kelby Lawson, both of Carrollton, will be presenting their choreography along with dancers Markeith Robinson, of Jefferson City, and Robert Longboy, of Mililani, Hawaii. In addition, Janie Morgan, MVC associate professor of dance, and MVC Alumnus Landon Alexander '08 will present a piece.

Inaside Chicago Dance advances artistry through choreography, performance and educational programs to heighten the state of the art in the Midwest.

"We are all very excited for this opportunity," Morgan said. "It's great to see that other people recognize the talent of our students and the hard work they put into their art."

The dancers are currently fundraising for the trip and are accepting donations to help lower their out-of-pocket costs.

MVC Repertory Dance Ensemble students will also travel to Chicago March 18-23 to attend the American College Dance Festival Association Conference at Northeastern Illinois University. At the conference students will be taking classes and will perform two pieces choreographed by Torey Miller.
