End Rows for Feb. 11, 2014
New farm bill
The new farm bill has been passed and signed into law. There have been a few calls regarding signing-up for the new programs. It will still be awhile before FSA staff has received training on the new legislation and for software updates to be made so that implementation can begin.
As details become available, the best way to stay up-to-date with the latest farm bill news from FSA will be through FSA eAlerts. Announcements of public informational meetings, sign-ups, and other important information will be issued through text messages and emails via FSA's eAlerts system. If you haven't enrolled, call or stop by the office.
Preparing for 2014 FSA programs
If you have made any changes to your farming operation, now is the time to report them to your administering FSA office.
These changes include:
-- Land sales or purchases
-- Acquire or lose farms to operate
-- Entity changes such as conversion to a Trust, LLC, LP, corporation, or partnership
-- Address, phone, and email
-- Banking, if you're on direct deposit.
-- Reporting these changes now will make program signup easier later.
