Registration opens for 11th annual Women in Ag conference

It's time to register for the 11th annual Women in Ag conference in Marshall. The conference will be held at the Martin Community Center at 1985 S Odell on Mar. 14. This year's theme is "Stompin' On, the new Decade Begins."

Featured speakers will be Julie Clark, founder of the Inspirational Coffee Club; Tyne Morgan, a national reporter with AgDay TV and Baxter Black, a cowboy poet with weekly column, radio and television shows.

To register, download the registration form from www.womeninag.net, complete it and return it to Saline County SWCD, 704 N. Miami Ave, Marshall, MO 65340; visit the Saline County USDA Service Center at 704 N. Miami Ave., Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. or call 660-886-7447, ext. 3.

The registration fee is $20 per person, which includes a light breakfast and lunch. The fee can be paid by check, made payable to Saline County SWCD, credit card -- Visa, MasterCard and Discover -- or cash. Your registration is not secured until payment is received and refunds may not be possible.

The all-day even starts at 9 a.m., with check-in at 8 a.m. Register now so you don't miss out. Once registration is full, registrations will not be taken at the door. Last year's conference sold out in three weeks.

A day of learning and fun awaits at the 2014 conference. Enjoy the 11th year of celebrating women agriculturalists with great speakers, music, food and friends.

Here are the interest rates for January:

-- Crop year end commodity loan, 1.125 percent

-- Farm storage facility loan with 7-year term, 2.250 percent

-- Farm storage facility loan with 10-year term, 2.875 percent

-- Farm storage facility loan with 12-year term, 3.000 percent

-- Farm loan operating loan, 1.875 percent

-- Farm loan farm ownership loan, 4.125 percent

-- Farm loan farm ownership down payment loan, 1.500 percent

-- Farm loan emergency loan, 2.875 percent

County committee election ballots

Election ballots must be returned or postmarked by Jan. 17. Remember to sign the address label inside the return envelope so that your vote can be counted.
