Letter to the Editor: Saline County fortunate to have Mary Montgomery Hospice
Letter to the Editor,
Ten years ago our mother received services from Fitzgibbon Mary Montgomery Hospice at her home until her death; recently an extended family member was also served by our local Hospice at an area nursing home. We are so fortunate to have such a professional and caring non-profit Hospice right here in Saline County ... neighbors serving neighbors. Some of the same staff who cared for our mother were on hand to help again. Hospice is not about giving up as one approaches the end of life, but rather Hospice is about giving care and comfort during the last months, weeks and days to those we love.
On Tuesday, Dec. 3, at 3 p.m. members of our community have the opportunity to not only support our non-profit Hospice, but also to remember a loved one by purchasing an ornament to be hung during the Tree of Life Ceremony held in the Atrium at Fitzgibbon Hospital. The act of remembering is an important one, and can be very appropriate and meaningful during the Christmas season. An ornament may be purchased in memory of anyone, whether a Hospice patient or not.
We would like to extend our thanks to the staff of Fitzgibbon Mary Montgomery Hospice. They have meant a great deal to our family. When the need arises, we hope you will call on them too.
