Slater School District held its Board of Education meeting at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 21, and authorized Superintendent Terry Lorenz to prepare for the upcoming election in April.

Lorenz announced three openings will be on the ballot with filing beginning Dec. 17 and ending Jan. 21 for the ballot on April 8 municipal election.

"We will be publishing with help from our friends at the Slater newspaper on Dec. 5 and Dec. 12, I believe," Lorenz said. "We'll be publishing the filing for the filing notice."

The board also approved a snow removal bid from Eugene Stephens, whom was hired to do it last year. His bid matched last year's price and the board was content with his efforts, although another bid that was considerably cheaper was announced, but reliability of service was in question.

The board also approved to continue with it's $10 million umbrella insurance policy.

Lorenz is also looking for ways to improve the football program for next season.

"I hope to have some more information to share at next month's board meeting," Lorenz said. "I'm looking into several different options and things. I think we all need to give some serious consideration to this fall."

The board adjourned to executive session for personnel and legal matters.
