Slater FFA students at the National FFA convention in Louisville, Ky.

The 86th annual National Convention was held this year in Louisville, Ky. The following FFA members from Slater's Chapter attended: Larissa Foster, Hannah Gochenour, Shelby Bagnell, Jordan Allen, Christian Venable, Stephanie Borgman, Nikki Riddle, Lawton Johnson, Spencer Peel and Tristian Griffith.

There were different convention and expo sessions, which consisted of about 50,000 different FFA members and ag teachers. Also, while in Louisville the students toured Churchill Downs, home of the Kentucky Derby, they went to the Louisville Sluggers store and also attended the Worlds Toughest Rodeo. Additionally, there were a couple of guest speakers that spoke at the convention and expo sessions. The speakers included Greg Fischer, mayor of Louisville, Rick Pitino, coach of Louisville Cardinals and Dr. Steve Brown, National FFA advisor. They each had very inspirational and wise speeches. It was a fun stay in Kentucky for the Slater FFA chapter, and they're excited about the upcoming 87th in 2014.
