Boonville - Missouri Valley Commission Company: Cattle Auction Report for 11/12/13

Wednesday, November 13, 2013

Receipts: 641 Last Week: 463 Year Ago: 882

Compared to last week’s thin test, feeder steers sold 5.00 to 6.00 higher,
spots 10.00 higher on steers under 550 lbs. Feeder heifers steady to 3.00
higher, except heifers under 500 lbs finding fewer outlets this week and trading
steady to 3.00 lower. Slaughter cows steady to 2.00 lower. Feeder quality was
much improved this week and with numbers expected to remain tight through the
fall, the feeder market continues to creep a little higher. Harvest is beginning
to wrap up throughout the region and each week finds an extra buyer or two ready
to gather a few head in an effort to reinvest their corn crop. Supply moderate
and demand moderate to good. Cows and bulls accounted for 16 percent of the
total offering. The feeder supply consisted of 67 percent steers and bulls and
33 percent heifers; 41 percent of all the feeder cattle weighed over 600 lbs.
