Boonville - Missouri Valley Commission Company: Cattle Auction Report for 11/05/13

Wednesday, November 6, 2013

Receipts: 463 Last Week: 731 Year Ago: 889

Compared to the last tested feeder market two weeks ago, feeder steers sold
steady to weak and heifers steady to 2.00 higher. Slaughter cows steady with
last week. Rain showers throughout the region brought a good crowd ringside,
some just comparing harvest progress but a few were on hand to pick around the
edges throughout the afternoon. More lightweight calves on offer this week, but
only those true weaned calves with 2 rounds of shots brought the top prices.
Buyers are always mindful of how quickly a calf’s health can deteriorate, but
particularly on a cool, rainy fall day. Supply and demand moderate. Cows and
bulls accounted for 14 percent of the total offering. The feeder supply
included 42 percent steers and bulls and 58 percent heifers; 25 percent of all
the feeder cattle weighed over 600 lbs.
