Boonville - Missouri Valley Commission Company: Cattle Auction Report for 10/15/13
Tuesday, October 22, 2013
Receipts: 602 Last Week: 382 Year Ago: N/A Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers under 650 lbs 6.00 to 10.00 higher, over 650 lbs steady to 2.00 higher. Slaughter cows steady to 3.00 higher. Overnight rains dropped just enough moisture in the area to stall harvest and bring several farmer-feeders ring side. The market benefitted from these new faces, who showed up ready to take home a trailer load. Soft, bawling calves still running up against some pretty steep discounts but buyers seem willing to give more each week for those hard weaned calves with all the work done. Very few heavy weight yearlings available this week. Supply moderate and demand moderate to good. Cows and bulls accounted for 17 percent of the total offering. The feeder supply consisted of 61 percent steers and bulls and 39 percent heifers; 29 percent of all the feeder cattle weighed over 600 lbs.
