The Optimist Club of Marshall held its weekly meeting Sept. 14

The Optimist Club of Marshall held its weekly meeting at 7 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, at Bloomfield's in Marshall.

The meeting was called to order by Club President Robyn Leimkuehler. The invocation was given by Ken Clause followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.

The club sold concessions in conjunction with Santa Fe Trail Days.

A meeting with both new and old boards was held at Leimkuehlers office at 5:15 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19.

Cornhusking Education Day at Saline County Fairground will be held Thursday, Sept. 26. That evening the club's installation banquet will be held in the fellowship room at the Methodist Church in Marshall.

On Sept. 28 the Kugle Fun Run will be held at Marshall High School Track.

The Sugar Creek Club in Kansas City will hold its meeting Oct. 17. Following the meeting a Texas Hold'em Poker Tournament will be held.

First quarter conference will be held Nov. 1-2 at Stone Castle Hotel and Conference Center in Branson.

The morning program was given by Bill Riggins of The Mar-Saline Development Cooperation. He spoke about the trip him and other local officials took to Washington, D.C.

The morning drawing was won by Kyle Gibbs.

The meeting was adjourned with the Optimist Creed.
